Team
One engineer,
one system.
FITNDEX is built and funded by its founder, who is also its first subject. The measurement, the models, the app and the driver library are one person's stack, which is unusual, and worth being straightforward about.

The system's first subject.
A research career with one thread through it: measure a living system, control its energy in and out, and optimise it. Near-infrared sensing with neural network calibration for non-destructive measurement of starch and sugar in apples, at a USDA post-harvest research laboratory. Energy audits and capacity investments for Michigan dairy operations. Then director of the state's largest indoor fish production facility, where a computer vision feeding controller dosed feed to observed behaviour and a variable flow raceway calibrated to fish body length cut time to market in half.
He trained under the FITNDEX protocols from his first meet to a national title in under three years, with a Michigan state championship, three state records and a world silver medal along the way. He is the customer the product serves and the sole developer of the stack.
Working with
The parts that should not be marked by their own author.
Two things sit outside the company on purpose. Customer discovery runs under mentorship from the Spartan Innovation Center, so the market questions get asked by somebody without an answer already in mind. And the validation program is designed for university execution under an independent principal investigator, with faculty collaboration in development, because a measurement claim evaluated by the person who built the instrument is not a measurement claim.
Hiring
Engineering, marketing, customer success.
Roles open as the funding events land: an engineering contractor first, then marketing and customer success. If you build computer vision, care about measurement, and train, the interesting problems here are the ones nobody has solved yet.
